The second-legs of the Champions Cup Quarterfinal Series began with the Chicago Fire posting a 4:0 win over visiting CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh (TRI) at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.
Trailing 5:2 on the aggregate score, Chicago scored the four goals needed to win the series 6:5. Dipsy Selowne scored twice, while Chris Armas and Damani Ralph each added a tally in the victory.
Another quarterfinal series saw Deportivo Saprissa defeat the host, CF Pachuca (MEX) 3:0 on penalty kicks at the Estadio Hidalgo in Pachuca, Hidalgo.
Two goals by Gabriel Alvez gave Pachuca a 2:0 win at the end of regulation as the series was tied 2:2 on aggregate, but Saprissa prevailed 3:0 on the penalty kick tiebreaker after two scoreless overtime periods.
Two goals by Guillermo Franco and one each from Hashim Suarez and Ismael Rodrνguez led CF Monterrey (MEX) to a 4:1 victory over visiting CD F.A.S. (SLV) at the Estadio Tecnologico in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. William Reyes had the only tally CD F.A.S. as they lose the series to Monterrey, 4:1 on aggregate.
The Quarterfinals Series of the Champions Cup concluded with the host, San Jose Earthquakes (USA) topping LD Alajuelense (CRC) 1:0, but were eliminated after losing the overall aggregate score 3:1. Brian Mullan scored the only goal from the Earthquakes at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, California USA.
The first-legs of the 2004 Champions Cup Semifinals are scheduled for 14 April, with the second-matches to take place a week later (21 April).
The semifinal winners will meet in the two-leg final series that will be held on 5 and 12 May, respectively.
The CONCACAF Champions Cup is the longest running international club competition in the region and has crowned the champion club of the Confederation since its inception in 1962.
